Changes breathe new life into NDBCC
The NDBCC has a new format to create a friendly competition for less cost.....
After extensive consultation with the individual state deaf basketball associations, DBA has finalised the new format for the sports important annual competition.
The new format will start in this years NDBCC on June 26 and 27 that will be held at Cararra on the Gold Coast in QLD.
The format promotes a new social aspect for the competition, and has a lower nomination cost to make it more accessable for more people.
A summary of the changes are:
- Players can now play for any team they want to, it is no longer a state based competition.
- You just have to be a member of the state that you live in
- Pool games are not fully timed, however the finals for the premium divisions will still be fully timed
- It will no longer be held on the traditional Easter weekend, and will now be held on a normal weekend each year to lower flight and accom. costs
- Presentation of trophies will now be held immediately after the final game, removing the costly formal presentation night
- Divisions have been extended from just the traditional adult competition, and will now include all junior grades, veterans and mixed seniior compeitions.
- Players will be able to play in more than one division in most cases
- The cost has been lowered dramatically......registration is only $70 per person for the Div 1 men's and women's....and even less for the junior and mixed divisions.
- The team bond has been drastically reduced to $50 per team
