Big Kids Camps starts in Brisbane
DBA's new junior develpoment camp program, Big Kid's Camps, starts off in Brisbane this month.
The camp is the first in a series of camps being held around Australia in major capital cities, and will provide opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing children to learn basketball under experienced DBA coaches using aural and Auslan.
This camp is at Brisbane Basketball courts in Dixon Rd, Auchenflower, on Sunday 14th February. The camp will start at 11:00am and go through to 2:00pm. It is open to boys and girls from 5 years to 15 years.
Kids will learn basketball, meet new friends, and just have fun. Experienced DBA Women's Gecko Head Coach Janelle Bressow and Ass. Women's Gecko Coach and Australian player Nicola Taschke will provide instruction for all levels of players.
Information sessions will be available for parents on opportunities in deaf basketbsall in social or serious basketball representing Australia at either the World Deaf Basketball Championships or the pinnacle, the Deaflympics.
The camps are designed to provide an introductory session that will lead to regular camps for juniors. Information and assistance will also be available to help deaf and hard of hearing kids to attend Basketball Australia's Aussie Hoops prprgram and play in mainstream basketball.
